Hey Everyone,

My name is Brandon and I'm an aquaholic. I love all things pertaining to water: fishing, scuba, reefkeeping, etc. I'm a friend of Carmie. I've been keeping aquariums for about 25 years, marine tanks for 16 years and successfully propagating corals for about 7 years. I would like to start breeding peppermint shrimp at some point in the near future. Here's some pictures of my current tanks:

Brandon,

Boy! Gorgeous tanks. Hopefully your club will have me back in the future and I definitely need to make a side trip to see your systems!

How long have you had that elegance?

Beautiful Brandon, hopefully you'll share some husbandry secrets with us. Whats the purple critter in the last pic, and elegance, or anemone? How long has the Thallasia been in there, and how deep is the substrate?

Thanks for all the kind compliments. I've had the elegance for over a year now. Unfortunately it started looking a little rough over the last couple of weeks or so for no apparent reason. I gave it an iodine dip and have moved it to another tank. Hopefully with a little TLC, it will come back around. The good news is that it does not seem to be loosing any tissue or getting any worse.

The anemone in the last pick was bought as a Heteractis malu. I'm not 100% sure that it is a malu, but it does look like it from the pictures I've seen.

I've had the Thallasia for about 2 years. It seems to grow very slowly, possibly because of the shallow substrate. I think the substrate in that tank is about 3 inches deep at the most. I usually get about 1 new sprout every month or 2.

I figured I'd mention that of the listed DIBS species, I have the following reproducing in my tanks:

Stomatella
Collonista
Asterina
Cirratulid - several different types
Polychaete - several
Entacmaea - RBTA and GBTA
Gammaridean amphipods
mysid

Other invertebrates that are reproducing include copepods, isopods, vermitid snails (not so desirable due to mucussy secretions), mini-feather dusters, tunicates, sponges, etc.

I would be interested in getting some of the easy to breed ceriths and turbos at some point.

Invertebrates that I would like to try to breed/propagate in the future, if possible, include Ceriantus anemones, algaevorous cowries, and Caribbean corals derived from aquacultured liverock.
