Hey all,
Now that we have buttons for all the roles of Project DIBS (Breeder, Educator, Moderator, etc), I would like to have a series of user ranks to give people another clue how active some people have been on the board.
I currently have a small ranking system in place:
New DIBSian 0-29 posts
Active DIBSian 30-99 posts
Obsesssed DIBSian 100+ posts
While it works, I would really like to have a much catchier system of names and at least 4-6 total levels. We could include DIBSian, or not, I really want this to be a wide open design.
Please use this thread to make suggestions and be as creative as possible.
Brian
how about a system that works up from the simplists inverts up to more complex ones.
This would show quantity of input members of the project have contributed.
for example:
0-50 Isopod
50-100 copepod
100- 150 amphipod
150-200 Polycheate
250 - 300 Gastropod
350-400 Echinoderm
1000+ ?
Get the idea?
This is a sample list and is by no means one to suggest one type of invert is more advanced than the other. I will let one of the educators come up with that!!! I can only give you an economic prediction or cost benefit analyis.

I like this idea a lot, although I have nightmares about Isopods, so we won't be using that title! ;) Maybe instead of trying to figure out the biological complexity of the invertebrate we just go by size, since the number of posts is an indication of your "size" in the community.
Anyone else have other ideas or comments? I just want to brainstorm for a little while.

:) care to explain? lol
I think puma nailed it on the head, i like the pods alot..
or maybe, do something with the growth of snails? Im not sure what kind of system there is with snails ( if there is any ) but here is an example
0-100 Larvae Stage
100-500 Juvenile
500-100 Grazing Adult
I have no idea lol but you should get the idea. :)

I battled an infestation of Cirolanid Isopods in my tank when I first started it up, it was an eight month+ battle and I still occassionally have bad flashbacks when I see an amphiopod from the wrong angle
It resulted in my first aquarium article:
Cirolanid Isopod Capture Techniques, Feeding Habits and Mortality Testing (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/bp/index.php)

Trust me on this one, Brian is a relentless hunter when it comes to Cirolanid isopods.

Maybe have a clickable link for the stage and people can read all about what specail about being in that certain stage of a snail life? :)

Here are some larval stages (I'm not sure anyone would have a clue what their rank meant :D) :
Egg, trochophore, veliger, pediveliger, bulla, cowrie
Nauplius, protozoea, zoea, mysis, phyllosoma, puerulus, lobster

I would like to thank everyone for their input. I like the idea of larval stages, but as Mike points out, not too many people would understand what they mean, so I think I'll go with Joe's idea.
I'll be dropping isopod, but we could easily add others, such as Actiniaria. I would like to change the scale to actual order, genus, species, etc names instead of common names. I'm hoping that might inspire people to look up scientific classification.
If anyone else would like to suggest some rankings for the above scale, please chime in!
