At first glance I thought this was a piece of caulerpa stuck on the side of my sump. A closer look shows these details: http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f198/CarmieJo/DSC_2687.jpg
What do you think they are?

CarmieJo,
Those don't look like eggs to me, it looks like trapped air bubbles in some kind of algae/diatom mat. Could you give me a size reference? How long is this thing?
Also, please keep all posted pictures to 640x480 pixels or less to reduce scrolling
Cheers,
Brian

It is about 1.5" long and perhaps 1/8" wide.

I would have to say trapped air bubbles unless someone else chimes in.....
One way you could test this would be to take a chopstick or pointy test kit syringe and carefully try to poke one of the "bubbles". If you poke it and it rapidly rises to the surface, you've got air bubbles. If not, your guess is as good as mine.

It is actually above the water level in what I call the "splash zone". My sump is an old wet/dry and the water flows into the compartment (now a mini-fuge) where the bio-balls went. It may be low enough flood the when the pumps are off. I've been sick and haven't worried about it so just because inquiring minds want to know I will poke one of them before I scrape it away.
