Not 100% sure myself if this should be in Broadcast spawning, or Brooding. Anyway I moved it to Brooding.

Thats great that you had Euphyllia spawn. Can you add more information. Do you have just one, or more than one genotype in the tank? Feeding, lighting, flow. How long have you had it, and any other information you think might be useful. Also how many recruits? Can you also describe the areas where the new recruits settled?

Off topic question. Is that a synthetic Diadema urchin in the back? Do you happen to also have Bangaii Cardinal spawn activity?

Thanks David for moving this to appropriate section.

I would love to give out as much informations as i could too but please walk me through this because i do not know what sort of information would be useful for anyone.

I have various Euphyllia sp. in my tank but only have one e.glabrescens in my tank, at the moment i have 7 babies in various spots, 4 of them were found on the left hand side of my tank where flow is not as strong as center part and they are all grew under cave area with moderate flow and weak lighting. Another 3 were found on the right hand side, 2 were from the sand bed with moderate flow and moderate lighting. i think i have them for 4-6 months now as i wasn't sure what were they until they grow bigger. Jonathan said they could be Euphyllia juvi. when i initially found them in various spots few months ago, then i finally realised they could be from my yellow torch coral as they have similar coloration.

I feed my tank once a day but rarely target feed any coral, it is a 6'x2'x2' with 3 x 250W MH and 4 x 24W T5HO. Flow is around 40X turns over. One thing i have noticed when coral spawn is that the skimmer will go offline straight away and next day you will find tank very sting. The other thing i do differently with others is that i let my temperature swing but no less than 24C, the highest temperature in my tank is 31.5C. before these LPS spawn in my system, i also have sps spawn:

in the same day that sps spawn in my system, my corallimorphs did also spawn in the same time but too bad i didn't get the camera quick enough to take that down. beside, i have a few pocillopora sp babies in various spots too but i guess that were from budding. Initially, i have a few sps babies but too bad my system was infested by AEFW, i killed every single sps coral in my tank just to eliminate them.

David, you have a very good eye that spot my other secret! Yes, i have a pair of breeding bangaii cardinals and i also entered MOFIB breeder challenge 2008. that is my bad workmanship artificial urchin.

Thats great that your sps and other corals are also spawning. I'm jealous. Are you doing anything to treat the NSW or just using it straight?

Ugh AEFW, I have been fortunate not to have been infected with them yet. There are treatments which kill them but not exactly reef safe. Might have been better than killing the sps in the process though.

no, i don't treat my NSW, just use it straight away.

yeah, they are a real pain. i fought with them before by setting up a Q tank, but i failed that time.

Just an update, i found another lot of babies which i believe they are from a "new batch" spawn because they are relatively small compare to "previous" babies. Picture will be upload this weekend and I'm planning to document these little babies for their growth which i *think* i can label them "home made coral"

Great pictures and post. I will be following this thread for developments and I hope to ask a few questions later.

Welcome to the RSF!

Thanks Brian!

Sorry for late responds. I'm a bit busy lately with parent visits, i hope this little document would be good enough again and if anyone think there is a better way to do this update please feel free to yell it out. Any suggestion to help document this would be greatly appreciated. I will be putting 2 group up and name them Spawn1 for the first spawn batch, spawn2 for second batch spawn corals.

Spawn1a is the largest in all the babies group in 6ft

Spawn1b, spawn1c and spawn1d (front to back) in 6ft

spawn1e ,in 6ft

spawn1f, 2ft frag tank which connects to 6ft

Spawn2a,in 6ft

spawn2b, in 6ft

spawn2c, in cube tank which runs individually. rock originally from 6ft sump only noticed this little polyp last week

I will be doing monthly upgrade for these babies and you guys can see the grow rate. would that be good enough? please advise.

Cheers,
Adrian

So one of the spawn made it to the frag tank? Did it have to go through any pumps to get there?
